The Sims 3 Cheats

What are Sims 3 Cheats used for?

Cheats can help enhance your gameplay in way to suit you! 


Whether you want to use this to help build your Sims 3 dream home or get to the top of the career path, the possibilities are (almost) endless...


We personally love being able to freely use The Sims 3 Cheats to access elements of the game that can typically take some time to achieve in usual game play. It can be used to create a ready-made scenario to fit the narrative you want top play.


How to Use Cheats

First off, you will need to allow access for the sims 3 cheats listed below to be used. To do this, you will need to press Control + Shift + C (for PC) or Command + Shift + C (for MAC). 


You will then see the cheat bar appear in the top left hand corner of your screen; when you see the cheat bar appear, type TestingCheatsEnabled True or TestingCheatsEnabled False and hit Enter, Cheats are enabled will now appear in the cheat box. To exit the cheat bar, simply type exit into the cheat bar and hit enter, alternatively, press Control + Shift + C (for PC) or Command + Shift + C (for MAC) 


Now that you have enabled access for cheats to be used, you can select the cheat you want to use from the comprehensive list below. Remember, each time you need to type a cheat, you will need to bring up the cheat bar by pressing Control + Shift + C (for PC) or Command + Shift + C (for MAC).
However, there are some accessible cheats that don't require you to type into the cheat bar:


Testing Cheats enables additional cheats and debugging options. This Sims 3 cheat will allow you to shift-click on sims, objects and the mailbox to access various cheat options

  • Shift-click on Mailbox: Provides options such as making friends, forcing careers, and setting needs.
  • Shift-click on Sim: Options to modify traits, age transition, and more.
  • Shift-click on Ground: Teleport your Sim to that location.


Skill and Mood Cheats

  • setAge [number]: Sets the Sim’s age to a specified number.
  • addToHousehold: Adds the selected Sim to the current Sims 3 household.
  • forceServiceSim [Service]: Summons a service Sim of your choosing.
  • makeHappy: Makes the selected Sim happy and maxes out all motives.
  • makeAllHappy: Makes all Sims in the household happy.

General Cheats

  • help: Lists all available commands in the cheat console.
  • enableLlamas [on/off]: Displays a message confirming if llamas are enabled.
  • fullscreen [on/off]: Toggles fullscreen mode.
  • resetSim [FirstName LastName]: Resets a specific Sim who may be stuck or having problems.
  • quit: Exits the game without saving.
  • constrainFloorElevation [true/false]: Allows you to adjust the elevation of individual floor tiles.
  • disableSnappingToSlotsOnAlt [on/off]: Disables object snapping when holding the Alt key.
  • fadeObjects [on/off]: Toggles object fading when the camera zooms in.
  • fps [on/off]: Displays the frame per second in the top-right corner.

Money Cheats

  • motherlode: Adds 50,000 Simoleons to the active household.
  • kaching: Adds 1,000 Simoleons to the active household.
  • familyFunds [LastName] [Amount]: Sets the funds of a specific household to the specified amount.

Building and Construction Cheats

  • moveObjects [on/off]: Allows you to move objects and Sims anywhere on the lot.
  • placeFriezes [on/off]: Allows the placement of friezes on any floor.
  • unlockOutfits [on/off]: Enables access to career and service NPC outfits in Create-a-Sim.
  • allowObjectsOnRoofs [on/off]: Lets you place objects on the roof.
  • buyDebug: Reveals hidden objects and debug items in Buy Mode.

Skill and Mood Cheats

  • setAge [number]: Sets the Sim’s age to a specified number.
  • addToHousehold: Adds the selected Sim to the current household.
  • forceServiceSim [Service]: Summons a service Sim of your choosing.
  • makeHappy: Makes the selected Sim happy and maxes out all motives.
  • makeAllHappy: Makes all Sims in the household happy.

Career Cheats

  • forceAllEvents: Forces all career-related events to occur.
  • forceEvent: Forces a career event for the active Sim.
  • forceOpportunity: Forces an opportunity for the active Sim.
  • forceVisitor: Forces a random visitor to arrive on the lot.

Moodlets and Traits Cheats

  • removeAllMoodlets: Removes all moodlets from the selected Sim.
  • setLifetimeHappiness [number]: Sets the lifetime happiness points to a specified number.
  • modifyTraits [on/off]: Allows you to change traits of your active Sim.

World and Lot Cheats

  • freerealestate: Makes all lots free to purchase.
  • setCareer [Career] [Level]: Sets the Sim’s career to a specific level.
  • Edit in CAS: Opens the Create-a-Sim editor for the active Sim to make changes.

Special Cheats

  • ageUpToNPC: Ages up an NPC Sim.
  • forceNPC: Summons a specific NPC to your lot.
  • hideHeadlineEffects [on/off]: Toggles headline effects like plumbob, speech, and thought bubbles.

Utility Cheats

  • fps [on/off]: Displays the current frame rate in the upper right corner.
  • quit: Closes the game without saving.
